NASA has made some interesting discoveries over this last week. One of the asteroids that NASA has been studying is revealed to composed of precious metals. NASA has also discovered a runaway planet.
The asteroid, 16 Psyche, is one that NASA has been watching for a while. They have been intrigued by a metal asteroid instead of the usual rock and ice asteroids. They hoped to get a glimpse into the Earth’s core below the crust by studying this unique asteroid. 16 Psyche has caught the eye of scientist since its discovery Italian astronomer Annibale de Gasparis on Mar. 17, 1852.
16 Psyche is now even more interesting than prior. The Hubble Space Telescope has determined this Asteroid is full of precious metals. The contents are estimated to be worth $10,000 quadrillion which is more than 10,000 times the global economy as of 2019.
NASA also discovered a rogue runaway planet. It is floating through our galaxy and is not rotating around a star. It could be just one of many rogue planets roaming the Milky Way. This rogue planet was hard to spot because you cannot rely on using traditional methods to find the planet since it isn’t orbiting a star.
