There have been rumors going around about a new Xena series. Lucy Lawless and Renée O’Connor stated they would love to come back to tell more Xena tales. There were rumors from a short reunion series like 24 did and Heroes and X-Files are in process of doing.
It looks like Xena is going in a different direction. According to THR, NBC is not looking at a continuation but rather a complete reboot of the Xena series. They are searching for a writer for this rebooted series.
NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt has stated they would love to have Lucy Lawless be a part of the reboot in a different role. But they would only be able to do this if she wasn’t a distraction for the new cast.
NBC is looking to update the character of Xena. They want to combine the tradition character of Xena and combine it withKatnissEverdeen.Rob Tapert and SamRaimi will be involved with this project. They will be producing and maybe more.A
Xena series without Lucy as Xena and Renée as Gabrielle? I don’t see this as a positive thing. I am much less likely to watch a reboot of this series. I would definitely watch a continuation mini series like
X-Files.
