This past weekend in Richmond Virginia was GalaxyCon’s Horror themed Convention “Nightmare weekend. This years big guests was a reunion of the cast from the cult classic movie “The Warriors” as well as the stars of the cult movie, The Last Starfighter. It was 3 days of fun for Comic and Horror fans. As usual there were plenty of horror themed animatronics, including.
My main goals for this Convention was to get autographs from all the members of the Warriors, and meet the Stars of The Last Starfighter, Lance Guest and Catherine Mary Stewart. Not only did I get to meet them, but I was able to get short Interviews with both Catherine Mary Stewart and Lance Guest. Finding out that Nick Castle directed them, was an added bonus, and Nick agreed to a short interview as well. first Up is Lance Guest….
Next Up was Catherine Mary Stewart..
Lance Doesn’t have much of a social media presence, however Catherine can be found on Facebook, Instagram, X and on her website,
http://www.Catherinemarystewart.com
I also was walking through “Creator Alley, and met Hilson, who runs BlerDCon, which is held in the suburbs of Washington DC in Northern Virginia. BlerDCon has been around for 8 years, and while the focus is on the Black community, they are amazing supporters of the LGBT+ and Disabled communities, and welcome everyone to their Con. Badges are on sale now @ https://blerdcon.org/.
I also got a short Update from our friend Dan Nokes from 21 Sandshark Publishing about how he was doing..
One late listed guest was Kristy Swanson, the star of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie. I had to pick up a gift for fellow GeekyKool writer Ashley Grant
Also in attendance was Musician Aurellio Voltaire who was been interviewed by Geekykool at DragonCon in 2023. Ashley Grant presented him with a copy of her first published full length novel “Empty Cargo”
I also grabbed a very short interview with Nick Castle…..
photos with the stars of the cult movie “The Warriors”, they were all great guys, and took a lot of time to talk to fans
Also in attendance were Richmond “Horror Rockers” GWAR. so I had to get the obligatory photo with the band
All in all it was 3 days of fun, and Nightmare Weekend continues to grow every year. Both GalaxyCon and Nightmare Weekend will be returning to Richmond VA in 2025, and GeekyKool will be in attendance to bring you all the action.
