Every year, the Oxford English Dictionary has a new word of the year. The 2022 word of the year is “Goblin Mode”. So the word of the year is actually two words or a phrase or a term.
“Goblin Mode” is a term meaning “unapologetically self-indulgent, lazy, slovenly, or greedy behavior.” Wow. This term does seem to fit 2022.
This is the first Oxford word that was chosen by a public vote. It won in a huge victory of 93% of the vote with 318,956 votes.
Welcome to the world of “Goblin Mode”.
