Pacific Rim 2 is back. Steven S. DeKnight will direct Pacific Rim 2. Originally, Guillermo del Toro was set to direct the sequel to his 2013 science fiction hit about giant robots, Jaegers, fighting alien giant monsters, Kaiju but he stepped aside for DeKnight. Jon Spaihts writing the script.
Best known for his writing and producing, DeKnight will now direct his first major motion picture. DeKnight directed television episodes for Smallville, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel and Dollhouse. He has plenty of geek cred.
Excitement surged through me when Pacific Rim 2 was originally announced. But the last few months have had several ups and downs. The filming was postponed indefinitely. This lead to speculation that Pacific Rim 2 was dead in the water (pun intended). With this exciting news, anticipation surges back. I write this with a gleam in my eye. After all, Giant monsters versus Giant Robots is so Geeky and KOOL.
