Women in Voice Acting with Linda Young and Erika Schroeder was an amazing panel hosted by Josh and Tim of the Nerd Informants. Tim and Josh asked Linda and Erika several questions about the process of vocal acting.
Both Erika and Linda stated that their favorite voice characters that they have voiced changes continually. They also shared they were born on the same day two years apart. Both Linda and Erika are singers on top of their voice acting..
On the discussion of singing, they discussed how to mix with singing. This is the method to go from a lower level to a higher level without hurting their voice. They discussed how they both discovered it.
When asked about acting in a sound booth, they shared that you cannot touch your body because the mics will pick it up every time. They have to be aware of the clothes they wear because they cannot be nosy like a tracksuit. When in the booth once cannot pick up their feet or move but can do a facial expressions and hand motions.
Erika had a great quote, “Some projects you do because you are are fulfilled artistically and some you do because they pay more… but you can say no and chose not to pick a project because of what they stand for.”
This was a wonderful panel with two amazing voice actors and the wonderful hosts (and our friends) the Nerd Informants.
