Everyone is feeling the shake up at DC Studios on what will happen next. James Gunn and Peter Safran are the new heads of DC Studios, a new studio that didn’t exist a year ago. They are looking at everything to make it lines up and will be a great product.
Wonder Woman 3 had been green lit by the past regime at Warner Bros. This was before the merger with Discovery and the creation of the new DC Studios to handle all things DC Super. Wonder Woman was directed by Patty Jenkins and was a tremendous success in 2017 for Warner Bros. The 2020 sequel, Wonder Woman 1984 feel flat with the fans and critics. It was directed and co-written by Patty Jenkins. Wonder Woman 3 has a completed script from Jenkins and Geoff Johns but it has been pulled from the DC Studios by Gunn and Safran.
It is possible that this is temporary. The script could be re-written and Jenkins could still direct. No official word that Jenkins has been removed from this project or that is completely dead.
There is speculation that Gunn and Safran may replace all of the DCEU characters and re-cast them with a new Universe. As popular as Gal Godot has been as Wonder Woman, it would be hard to imagine that they would go in a new direction. But we have seen this in the past from Batman and it could happen here.
We will have to wait to see the vision and changes from the DC Studios c0-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran.
