George Lucas is the father of Star Wars. He directed the original Star Wars movie along with the prequels. Lucas sold his rights and control to Disney but some fans would like him back at the helm and directing episode IX instead of Colin Trevorrow.
Yuri Ruiz created a petition on Change.org. This petition is looking for 2,500 individuals to sign the petition. It is currently at 2,435 supporters.
I think Disney would need a lot of convincing to move back to George Lucas as a director. 2,500 signatures isn’t very many. Star Wars: The Force Awakens has dominated the box office for the last few weeks. It continues to break records after records. Maybe if Trevorrow can score 250,000 signatures, Disney might listen but I doubt it.
Below is from Change.org.
Bring back George Lucas for the Star Wars movies. Put the father of the franchise as director of Episode IX . We really want this, please .
We have no problem with Colin Trevorrow , but he’s not the right guy to direct Star Wars Episode IX . George Lucas as director of Episode IX would be the perfect way to end this new trilogy and make an epic farewell between the Father of Star Wars and the whole universe of the galaxy far, far away ….
We would like to see him again involved with the franchise. Thank you so much. (Change.org)
