Planet Comicon Kansas City – Awesome Creator Guests

Planet Comicon Kansas City – Awesome Creator Guests

One of the great things about a Comic Book convention is the creator guests. Planet Comicon Kansas City 2018 will have a ton of them. You have an opportunity to meet and talk to your favorite comic book creators. If you remember to bring along those prized comics, you can have them sign their work. It is so awesome.

Most of the writers, artists, inkers, and colorists will sign these books for free. There are some that will charge you to sign their comics. Most of the time, it is the veteran stars of comics from yesteryear and most of them don’t charge much. Last year, Chris Claremont charged $5 per comic.  Neal Adams will be at Planet Comicon Kansas City 2018 and he charges $30 for his signature.

Here is a link to the full list of comic creators that will be at Planet Comicon Kansas City.  You can also check out the list on the app and it lists their location on the main floor.  There will be other creators that are not in Artist Alley that purchased their own booth and you should check them out too.

Here is a list of creators that I have to visit.  This is just a sample of the amazing artists and writers at Planet Comicon Kansas City 2018.  There are other creators I know I will meet and greet not on this list.

Marguerite Bennett is the awesome writer of the alternative history series, Bombshells. She is the current writer for DC’s Batwoman series.   She has written a ton of other series including one of my favorite mini series from Marvel’s Secret Wars- Battleworld, A-Force.  Marguerite is very sweet and friendly along with being an awesome writer.

If you are going to stop over and get Marguerite Bennett’s signature on DC’s Bombshells, you need to stop over with Ant Lucia.  Ant is the cover art for all of the Bombshells issues.  He is the artist on several of them and other comics.

Dennis Hopeless is an artist on several different Marvel comics over the years.  He is best known for his work on Spider-Woman, All New X-Men, and Avengers Arena.

Jill Thompson is an  Eisner Award- winning comic writer and artist.  The painted graphic novel, Wonder Woman: The True Amazon, is beautiful and amazing.  It is written and drawn by Thompson.  She is also known for her work on the Neil Gaiman Sandman comics and characters.

Rick Burchett is one of the great creators and comic artists.  He is also a great person.  You want to take a few minutes to talk to Rick because this gentlemen knows the comic industry and has some awesome stories.   He started drawing comics professionally in the early 80s.  He won an Eisner Award in 1996 for his work on Batman Adventures and again in 1999 for Batman: The Gotham Adventures.  Burchett drew the first appearance of Harley Quinn in Batman Adventures #12.

If you like Star Wars, Wolverine, and Thor comics, then you will want to meet comic Writer Jason Aaron. He is one of the biggest stars in comics.   Aaron is also known for his more intense non-super hero comics like Scalped and Southern Bastards.

Talking about one of the biggest stars in writing comics, you need to meet Cullen Bunn. Cullen is an awesome writer and even a better guy.  If you read comics, you are probably reading something by Bunn.  Cullen is known for his awesome series, The Sixth Gun but he writes numerous books every month.  X-Men: Blue is a great series involving the original X-Men.  Harrow County is an ongoing horror comic with Dark Horse.  There are too many to tell you all that he is currently writing.

If you are a fan of the Batman series with the new 52, you need to get in line early to see Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo. These gentlemen will be busy signing comics all weekend long. I suggest getting there early on Friday (definitely don’t go by on Saturday) and get both the writer Synder and artist Capullo’s signatures.  They both have tons of other books you can bring by for their signatures.

Christopher Priest is a veteran comic writer and editor with a long and cool history.  He was an intern with Marvel in 1978 and joined their editoral staff in 1979. He was the first African American editor in mainstream comics.  He went by his birth name of Jim Owsley in the early years. He changed his name to Christopher Priest in 1993.  Often he is credited as Priest.  He currently is writing for DC’s Deathstroke.  He is well known for his work at Marvel on Power Man and Iron Fist, Black Panther, and  The Falcon miniseries.  I collected the Falcon Miniseries back 1983 and fell further in love with this character because of Priest’s writing.  With his history, you want to stop by just to shake hands with a great of comics.

There are a ton of others to check out.  These are just a taste of who you can meet at Planet Comicon Kansas City 2018.

Stay Geeky My Friends!
