The geek community appears split about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Some geeks and nerds loved this movie. Others didn’t think it was that good. I know I had issues with it but still enjoyed this film. Some nerds and geeks cannot stand this movie.
BVS did well at the box office. It made over $860 Million dollars. There were expectations that it would make over a Billion at the box office and that didn’t happen. In some people’s minds, this is seen as a failure.
But it was killed by the critics review sites like Rotten Tomatoes with only a 27% rating from the critics. It did better with the audience at Rotten Tomatoes with 64%. IMDB has Batman v Superman has it listed as a 6.7 out of 10 Stars.
For a movie that did well at the Box Office, it takes a lot of lamenting. The Golden Raspberry Awards aka the “Razzies” put out their list of nominations. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice dominated the nominations for 2016 movies with eight nominations. The Razzies are the counter point to the Oscars for the worst movies. This is the 37th annual ceremony for the bad moies.
In addition to Batman v. Superman, Gods of Egypt got five nominations, Suicide Squad got two, Alice: Through the Looking Glass got three and Independece Day Resurgence also got five. Divergent Series: Allegiant stars were also nominated for worst actress and Megan Fox was also nominated for her role in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.
While most of the nominations are pretty straightfoward, the names for the “combo” nominations are pretty amusing. They include “Ben Affleck and his BFF (Baddest Foe Forever” in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and “Johnny Depp and his Vomitously Vibrant Costume” from Alice: Through The Looking Glass. (Epicstream)
