Michael Nesmith will always be remembered for his part in the pop sensation group, The Monkees. The Monkees were put together for a television show in the 60s in hope to catch a part of Beetle Mania and it worked. The band may have formed for a television show but they were a real band. Nesmith was singer and guitarist for the band.
The Monkees have sold more than 75 million records worldwide. They had several top hits like “Last Train to Clarksville”, “I’m a Believer”, “Pleasant Valley Sunday”, and “Daydream Believer”. In 1967, the Monkees had more hits than the Rolling Stones and the Beatles combined.
Many of us learned about the Monkees on reruns in the 80s. The quirky group had slapstick and fun tv show. Yet their music was really good.
Nesmith passed away in his home on Friday at age 78. His family reported that Michael passed away peacefully from natural causes.
Rest In Peace, Michael. We will miss you. Thank you for the fun and wonderful music.
