Nathan Fillion has joined the Marvel Movie Universe as the galactic policeman, Nova. At least that is the rumor. Unleash The Fanboy is reporting this as fact. According to their article, Fillion will make a guest appearance in this summer’s Marvel’s Guardian’s of the Galaxy.
This isn’t the first time Nathan has played a superhero. Fillion has voiced Hal Jordon for several animated DC movies. Hal Jordon is a member of the Green Lantern Corp, intergalactic police, and is one of Earth’s Green Lanterns. The Nova Corp is Marvel’s version of an intergalactic police group. Fillion will go from being a DC cosmic officer to a Marvel cosmic officer.
Fillion has voiced other characters like Wonder Woman’s Steve Trevor, Black Adam, and Mr. Freeze. He portrayed the heroic jerk Captain Hammer in the live action mini webseries (cult classic) Doctor Horrible’s Sing Along Blog. He was “The Holy Avenger” in the spoof her movie, Super. He has background in being super as a super being.
If this rumor turns out to be true, then we expect that to see more of Nathan as the Nova, the Human Rocket. We can expect to see him show up in other Marvel movies and maybe even his own movie. There is already discussions about a Guardians of the Galaxy 2. In the comics, Nova is one of the heroes that stands opposed to the galactic villain Thanos. Since Thanos was seen at the end of Avengers, it is possible Fillion’s Nova could end up in an Avengers movie.
