Santiago Dunbar is the captain on the the airship S.S. Beatrix in the webseries Dirigible Days. James Bragado is the creator of the Dirigible Days and portrays the good Captain Dunbar. James owns Santiago Dunbar’s Steampunk Surplus (also check out his Facebook page).
I was privileged to meet James at Wizard World St. Louis. I introduced myself to him when I asked to take his picture. His face lit up with excitement when I told him who I am. He seemed as excited to finally meet me as I was to meet him. I was honored to find out that he is very familiar with Geeky KOOL.
The Dirigible Days gang had a viewing and panel on Friday evening of Wizard World St. Louis. I was unable to attend the Panel because I did not arrive in St. Louis until late Friday night. That would have been a fantastic time (and was I hear). James told me that their cast was looking for me on Friday night. I was equally shocked and honored to know this group thinks highly of Geeky KOOL and they were looking for me.
James then did something that blew me away. He presented me with a metal: The Black Star of Bravery. This is one of the metals he wears as Captain Santiago Dunbar. He honored and humbled me with this awesome metal that he made with his own hands. It is fantastically Geeky and super KOOL.
With the passing of the Buccaneer Interdiction Edict of 991 many of the countries surrounding the Red Sea pledged to stamp out piracy in the region forever. It was an ambitious goal, and unfortunately eight years later the skullduggery of the Saransk Pirate Brotherhood is still a problem. However, there have been decisive battles won against the Brotherhood; won primarily by the sky forces of Kenzania. From their shipyards in the capital of Serengeti, Kenzania has built as strong sky force consisting mainly of light frigates which are able match the speed of the Saransk blockade runners and cutters. This medallion is given to members of the Kenzania Sky Force for distinguished bravery in battle with these brigands. (from description on Etsy)
Below is a picture of me wearing my The Black Star of Bravery (check out the Etsy page to purchase your own or a different uber KOOL metal. ). I wear it on my jacket daily and have proudly discussed it with others. I love this metal. It makes me proud to support and enjoy steampunk and specifically the Dirigible Days.
Thank you again Captain Santiago Dunbar, aka James Bragado. I love my medal. It is awesome.
Remember the Dirigible Days Kickstarter for their comicbook series will begin on April 19th.
