Mel Brooks has been the master of the comedy and parody movies for a long time. His genius create such movies like Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, and The Producers. His brilliance shines through with each one.
My favorite Mel Brooks movie is Spaceballs. This movie spoofs all of my favorite Space movies. It has a large Star Wars feel but throws in a little bit of everything including Alien and Planet of the Apes.
Recently Mel Brooks appeared on Adam Carolla’s Take a Knee podcast. On this podcast, he announced that he is working on a Spaceballs sequel titled Spaceballs: Search For More Money. The original Spaceballs premiered in 1987. He hopes to begin filming after Star Wars: The Force Awakens open in December.
Mel Brooks hopes to unite the majority of the surviving cast members to make this sequel. He is firmly entrenched with needing Rick Moranis to take up his role as Dark Helmet. This is a challenge since Moranis has given up acting at this time. Hopefully Brooks can convince Moranis to come out of retirement for this sequel.
