Spider-Man Noir Swings Onto Amazon Prime with a New Series

One of the really KOOL alternate versions of Spider-Man is Spider-Man Noir. He comes from Earth‑90214—known as the Noir World—set during the Great Depression. The character first appeared in a 2009 Marvel mini‑series set in this alternate universe, and he quickly became a fan favorite. His popularity helped launch him into the 2014 Spider-Verse event.

In 2018, Spider-Man Noir made his on‑screen debut in the hit animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, voiced by Nicolas Cage.

Now, Amazon, Marvel, and Sony have announced a new eight‑episode live-action Spider-Man Noir series coming to Amazon Prime. In this adaptation, Nicolas Cage will portray Ben Reilly, a.k.a. Spider-Noir.

In the comics, Spider-Man Noir—also known as Spider-Noir—is that universe’s Peter Parker. For the series, however, the mantle is being shifted to Ben Reilly, who is a clone of Peter Parker in Marvel lore. The change is likely intended to reduce confusion for casual viewers.

In the Noir universe, Ben Reilly is a down‑on‑his‑luck private eye who must confront his past while gaining spider‑based superpowers (of course). The show’s humorous tagline is:
“With No Power Comes No Responsibility.”

One of the really KOOL details about the series is that viewers will be able to watch it either in classic black‑and‑white noir style or in True‑Hue Full Color.

All episodes will drop at once on May 27.  See the trailer below.
