Stan Lee is one of my idols. I wanted to become a writer because he inspired me. He created or co-created some of my favorite fictional characters of all time. He is extremely creative and funny. He has a positive outlook on life. I hope I am this spry when I am Ninety Years old guy.
Stan has his own brand of cologne that will hit the shelves on September 25, 2013. One doesn’t normally put out a cologne when one is Ninety years of age but Stan usually does things on this own terms and timing. I admire his drive and determination at this age to put out a cologne scent.
If I get this cologne, will it make me feel like I am Spider-Man? Will I constantly be handing out one liners when things get serious? Or will I feel like Peter Parker and be the lovable loser? Will it make me smell like the Hulk (no thank you)? I hope it doesn’t make me smell like a typical Ninety Year Old guy (I hope I don’t smell like that when I am Ninety)! I am sure Stan doesn’t smell like normal Ninety Year old.
Below is part of an article about the Cologne from World TV PC.
JADS International’s CEO Andrew Levine oversaw the scent of the cologne (created with bergamot, basil, ginger, white pepper, and violet), and summarised it’s conception process, stating: “We wanted to do something, we talked about it and he said, ‘I never thought about my characters, what they smelled like’. He said, ‘Everybody would be pretty good except the Hulk’.”
The cologne is noted as featuring ‘accords of cedar, musk, vetiver’ in an attempt to blend ‘villainous as well as heroic traits’ from all of Lee’s major creations, as Levine added: “You want to feel like Iron Man… but you want to have a little bit of Loki.”
Lee explained his part in the process, saying of the ‘villainy appeal’: “I felt a touch of villainy added to the scent would make it more interesting and be of greater appeal to females who always find a villain interesting if he’s rich and handsome – and smells good. In a perfect world, I’d also want to add a whiff of comic book store aroma – the smell of newsprint and coloured ink, the rush of enthusiasm and the thrill of discovery.”
