Steve Ditko who helped create both “your friendly neighborhood” Spiderman and Dr. Strange, has passed away in NYC at 90. Ditko worked along side Stan Lee creating some of the best heroes and villains in the marvel Universe in the 60’s. Spiderman’s red and blue costume, spidey sense and web shooters were all created by Ditko. Spiderman villian’s Dr. Octopus, Green Goblin, Vulture and the Lizard were also Ditko creations.
After creating Dr Strange, Ditko and Lee had a falling out, and Ditko left Marvel. Ditko returned to Marvel in 1979, and created cult favorite Squirrel Girl in 1992. Ditko was considered “the J.D.Salinger” of comics as he refused all interview requests.
Ditko was not married and it is believed he has no survivors.
