According to Deadline, a new Superman movie is in the works. It is being referred to as a “reboot” but a complete reboot has not been confirmed by Warner Bros. This new Superman movie is being written by author Ta-Nehisi Coates . It will be produce by J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot and Hannah Minghella. |
No plot nor cast has been confirmed for this film. Henry Cavill has stated that he is hopeful to get back into the Superman role so he could be cast. A rumor has Michael B Jordan taking over the role as Clark Kent/ Superman, which would lend itself to the reboot idea.
Since Batman now has three different versions of Batman with Ben Affleck, Robert Pattinson, and Michael Keaton all playing Bruce Wayne/Batman in upcoming movies, then maybe there is room in Warner Bros for a Henry Cavill and Michael B Jordan as Superman in the movies. You also have Tyler Hoechlin as Superman in the Superman and Lois series and from Supergirl. Will fans accept 3 different Supermen?
The only thing we know for sure is that there is a new Superman movie in development and tied to Bad Robot. The rest is really just speculation at this point.
