Most conventions goers are familiar with the 501st Legion. This is a group of cosplayers (costume players) who dress up as Storm Troopers, Imperial Officers, and occasionally Darth Vader himself. The 501st is known for their volunteer work especially with children.
But what if you want to carry a lightsaber instead of a blaster but refuse to be one of those self righteous Jedis? You are in luck. There is a costume group for you. The Dark Empire is a group of Sith, Dark Jedi, and Grey Jedi. You can join a group of Dark Side of the Force.
The Dark Empire group is a charitable organization. They focus on giving back to their communities. They make it a policy to invite and include all Star Wars fan groups, even Jedi and Rebels, with them when they are costuming. I guess this makes them not all bad after all.
The Dark Empire has a radio show. It is the aptly named Dark Empire Radio. It is hosted by Lord Bruticus. This radio show focuses on Star Wars fans in general while promoting The Dark Empire webpage.
I did meet members of this group at C2E2 and they seemed to be extremely nice when they weren’t forcing choking their subordinates.
