Over on Entertainment Weekly’s website is a new “First Look” at the next season of The Legend of Vox Machina, the animated adaption of Critical Role‘s first campaign. Seasons 1 and 2 are what got me hooked on the live-play show that airs live on Twitch and YouTube most Thursdays around 9pm Central.
If you are unaware, the show (and the campaign its based on) follow a rag-tag team of heroes (maybe?) named Vox Machina who are trying to save the realm of Tal’Dorei for any number of threats. Currently, in the Chroma Conclave storyline, the group is fighting against a partnership of DRAGONS. I won’t spoil the fun, but the first two seasons were some of the best storytelling I had seen and I binged the whole thing when I came down with COVID-19 last year.
Voiced by the same players that are part of the live-play game, the Vox Machina team name is a nod to the fact that the group of friends are all voice actors in animated shows and video games. Their original team name was “Super High-Intensity Team” which wasn’t seen as a good choice when the game went to live-streaming because of the acronym implications.
Anyway, I await with bated breath the start of season 3 coming to Amazon Prime Video on October 3rd. And then look forward to the start of the animated version of Campaign 2 for the Mighty Nein hopefully in 2025.
