According to The Wrap, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is in negotiations to star in the remake of the 80s cult classic, Big Trouble in Little China. If the deals goes through, The Rock will portray Jack Burton. Burton was made famous by Kurt Russell.
The original Big Trouble in Little China was not a box office success but has become a cult classic. Jack Burton is a trucker who gets dragged into a mystical battle in San Francisco’s Chinatown. The movie is full of Kung Fu and Magic. A trucker is a little out of his norm but his bravado and will power saves the day.
Big Trouble in Little China is one of the Johnson’s favorite movies. I can’t blame him. It is a ton of fun. I can’t help but stop and watch it when it is on. But I don’t think it needs a remake.
