Last January I was introduced to the Drifter Web Series when I meet and hung out with Jason Brasier. Jason is one of the writers and the director of the Drifter Web Series. He and his business partner, Britney Greer, own American Wasteland Entertainment.
After having a wonderful conversation with Jason, I went right home to view the first season of Drifter. This web series instantly drew me in into this post apocalyptic world. The United States was devastated by a second Civil War and society has reverted back to the Wild West.
The main character Drifter (Vanessa Leinani) was a former solider in the Second Civil War. She knows how to handle herself in this very rough and tumble world. No man was going to get the best of our nameless heroine. The overtones in this webseries reminded me of a hardcore western like Unforgiven.
I posted every episode of Season One on Geeky KOOL because it delivered on all it promised. It was a wonderful series with good acting and writing. It was visually stunning. The flawed heroine, Drifter, made you want to root for her. It was a perfect fit for Geeky KOOL and our readers.
Today I was given an opportunity to watch the first four episodes (out of eight) for a special screening. I eagerly agreed to check out Drifter: Lonesome Highway (Season Two) and I wasn’t disappointed.
Drifter: Lonesome Highway picks up with our heroine in trouble. She is being hunted by a group of thugs. We quickly find out that this group is lead by a great female villain.
Mustang Sally (Jennifer Eiffert) is the leader of band of highway robbers and bad men. She has a whip on each hip and isn’t afraid to use them. Her presence is visually stunning and frightening. She is fierce and a bit crazy, which makes for a terrific antagonist.
I love the use of strong female characters in this second season. The first season had Drifter kicking butt and taking names but now we have her equivalent as a villain. There are other female characters in the first four episodes and most of them appear to have tenacity and can hold their own. These strong female characters in this series are a breath of fresh air .
Episode One of Drifter: Lonesome Highway will be released on May 28th. Make sure to check it out and go back and watch (or re-watch) the first season Drifter: Broken Road. We will be posting the episodes on Geeky KOOL for your convenience.
