The Electric State is a retro-futurist (set in 1994) post-apocalyptic dystopian movie coming to Netflix. It deals with the aftermath of a robot/AI war with humanity that ended in a stalemate. “The people who died were buried; the automatons who were destroyed rust away where they fell. The defeated robots have been banished to an “exclusion zone” in the southwestern desert, while human society attempts to rebuild without the help of the mechanical beings it created.” (Vanity Fair) It is based off of the Graphic Novel of the same name by Simon Stalenhag.
The Electric State is directed by the Russo Brothers (Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame). It has an all star cast of Millie Bobby Brown, Chris Pratt, Ke Huy Quan, Stanley Tucci, Jason Alexander, Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, Giancarlo Esposito, Anthony Mackie and Billy Bob Thornton. It is scheduled to be released by Netflix on March 14, 2025.
