One of the KOOL and different things about Tremendicon is its panels. They are hosted by experts in the field. The panelists were JimmyZ Johnston, Aaron Conaway, John Horner Jacobs, LC Mortimer, and Team Wordwraith. The panels are all track based. As a writer and one who has been procrastination on my novel, I thought this would be the perfect panel to attend.
The panel discussed the various methods they do to get back on track. At one time, one of them stated they no longer procrastinate because they are motivated by money and if they don’t write, then they don’t get paid. JimmyZ stated that he likes money but it doesn’t seem to motivate him and then told a story. JimmyZ had co-wrote a comic series with Cullen Bunn and asked Cullen after a few months, how they get paid. JimmyZ had missed the detail on how to bill the company monthly but did send out the invoices later.
The big key is to make it a priority and a focus and use what works for you. Various writers will use different things to prevent them from procrastinating but they won’t work for everyone.
There was also a great discussion on cutting yourself some slack and the need for self-care. If you don’t have anything in the creative well, then you need to refresh it.
This panel was a good kick in the butt to get me more motivated. Thank you, writers panel, and thank you, Tremendicon.
