TV Review: Revolution

Can a television show created by Eric Kripke (writer for Supernatural) and produced J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot be anything but awesome?  Or would it be overhyped and become a flop? Can a post apocalyptic series really do well?

After only two episodes, I can’t tell you if Revolution will take the nation by storm like LOST and Heroes or if will fall short. I can tell my thoughts on this series so far.

What I liked: (minor Spoilers)
I am enjoying the storytelling and writing in this series. Supernatural is a fun and entertaining series but Revolution is a different type of series. Kripke and his writers set the tone for this series with dark overtone but the possibility of a silverling.

I am enjoying the variety of characters in this show. These characters are complex and come from various background prior to the blackout.  I am fascinated how many of these characters are completely different than  prior to the blackout.

I love Charlie, the main character, and how complex she is. She wants to explore and have a good time. Another side of her is the person who takes responsibility for her brother with asthma.  She blames herself for her father’s death and her brother being taken.  Charlie doesn’t want her Uncle Miles to kill a man in cold blood even though the man was trying to kill him. Yet she volunteers to kill the head guard of a chain gang.

What I not Like:
So far, I only have one complaint.  During the first episode when the power goes out,  planes start dropping out of the sky.  The planes dropped straight down instead of going into dives.  It was unrealistic.

Review:
I am loving this series so far.  It blends bleak of the post apocalyptic but with hope for the future.  The writing is fantastic and the acting is good.

If you are into geeky television programs and you are not watching Revolution, you are missing out.
