Cell phone giant Verizon purchases internet search engine and business Yahoo for $4.8 Billion. Yahoo was the favorite search engine back in the 90s. It has lost it’s luster to the Mammoth Google.
This is a huge purchase for Verizon. It pulls in much more than just a search engine. It pulls services like news, finance, sports (including Fantasy Football), video, email and the Tumblr social network to the Verizon portfolio.
Verizon hopes to utilize Yahoo’s infrastructure along with their recent purchase of AOL’s infrastructure to become a digital advertising giant like Facebook and Google.
