Warner Bros CEO Kevin Tsujihara recently spoke at an entertainment law conference. He discussed several subjects including the new movie in the Harry Potter world by J.K. Rowling. But the big news for superhero fans is his statement about Wonder Woman. He stated that Warner Bros have missed a huge opportunity in not developing DC movies other an Batman and Superman. Then he stated this quote, “We need to get Wonder Woman on the big screen or TV.” (Hollywood Reporter)
This statement makes perfect sense. Wonder Woman is considered the third member of DC Comics “Trinity” of heroes. She is the oldest and most known female hero. She can bring in a whole new line of girls into both comics and superhero movies. This statement is almost a “DUH” to most of us.
It probably wouldn’t be big news if we hadn’t just heard how tricky and difficult a Wonder Woman movie would be to make from DC Executives earlier in the year. The CW had a Wonder Woman series called “Amazon” and has sat on it. Every breath of hope for Wonder Woman to star in her own television or movie series has been dashed over the last year.
With this statement by Tsujihara, fans are finding some solace in the fact that they have Warner Bros CEO’s attention. Will this actually pay off for fans or will this just be another heart break? Only time will tell if these words will translate into a Wonder Woman movie.
Here is to hoping for a Wonder Woman movie to come sooner rather than later.
