Anne McCaffrey’s Dragonriders of the Pern series is one of the most known and beloved sci fi/ fantasy book series. This series has twenty two books total. Warner Bros has made a deal to adapt these books into a live action adventure.
It is unknown if they plan on making movies based off of the book series or a possible television series. Either way, fans have been hoping for this series to get some attention from Hollywood. With Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings/Hobbit success, there is little doubt that Warner Bros could bring these books to the big screen. But they could also bring them to television with the success of Game of Thrones.
I don’t really care how we get to see these books adapted as long as it is done well and promoted properly. John Carter was a fun adaption of the Princess of Mars (story didn’t stick to the book at all but..) but it was misnamed and poorly promoted. The second and third Narina movies were not marketed successfully and that series died a premature death. Lets not let the Pern series die an early death.
Here is to seeing a live action Dragonsriders in the near future.
