Joss Whedon is interested in returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe if he can direct the Black Widow movie. He has been promoting the idea of a Black Widow movie for a long time. Scarlett Johansson’s character has waited for her own movie since Iron Man 2.
Whedon is known for writing and directing strong female characters. Buffy Summers is one of the greatest known female lead characters. Dollhouse and Firefly are two other series with awesome strong females.
The fans are clamoring for a Black Widow movie. Several in the MCU are pressing for a Black Widow movie including Anthony Mackie aka The Falcon, Civil War writers Joe and Anthony Russo, and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige. Her character has been in five different Marvel movies. Yet her solo movie still hasn’t been announced.
The time appears right for a Black Widow movie. I believe Marvel sees the huge swell of support. Will Whedon direct a Black Widow movie? Only time will tell.
