Superman is a stupid superhero in my opinion. He’s basically invulnerable, yet gets undone by the simplest of villains. His arch nemesis is a REGULAR DUDE with NO POWERS (Seriously Superman, just kiss him and make him forget everything in his life). That said, The new trailer for “Man of Steel” got me a tad excited. Because of my disappointment in almost all the previous films, I was prepared to be let down in every conceivable way. Then, I started doing research. Every fact I looked up about the movie got me more excited than the last. After a very long wikipedia black hole adventure, I came to one conclusion: Whether or not I like Superman, this film looks Amazing.
Below are the major points that got me excited:
– Christopher Nolan is not only producing “Man of Steel”, but has most of the same production team that did “The Dark Knight” trilogy.
– Christopher Nolan is also a writer on the David Goyer (Scriptwriter of “The Dark Knight Trilogy”) Script. Goyer also wrote the “Blade” trilogy and “Dark City”
– The bad guy is not Lex Luthor, and Lex Luthor doesn’t seem to be mentioned at all in any press releases I can find.
– General Zod (The villain in the film) is one of Superman’s few compelling enemies.
– This is a complete Reboot, taking none of the previous movies into account and acting as if they don’t exist (Superman 2: the Richard Donner Cut was amazing, but is severely antiquated and the only good superman film to date*)
All in all, Warner Bros. can have my money opening week. I believe that this movie will do for Superman what “Batman Begins” did for Batman.
*This is a fact pulled out of my own head and can only be verified by having a 2 hour discussion with me, where I will back up all my evidence with years well researched opinion.
